Tourism track in Wieliczka mine.

salt mine in wieliczkaIt is assessed that year after year thousands of people decide to visit Wieliczka. The tourist attracting salt mine is placed at the depth of 327 meters and its undergrounds corridors reach over 300 km long. During the tour people have opportunity to pass over 3,5 km trail full of mythical shapes and historical monuments.

One of the biggest attraction of that spot is an exquisite chapel that is an effect of miners’ work. In the centre point of the room there hang a beautiful rocky chandelier with elements made from the whitest, ice-like salt. The guided Wieliczka Salt Mine tours include, among other attractions, visiting the exhibitions showing the history of mine, an underground lake and beautiful room with the faces carved as to look like wood.

While having the excursion to Wieliczka Salt Mine it is worth to remember many brilliant people who had been to Wieliczka in the past centuries - J.G. Goethe, Nicolaus Copernicus, Bolesław Prus (who created the Labyrinth scenes from his well-known historical fiction ‘Pharaoh’ after his visit to Wieliczka), Bill Clinton, Polish Pope and Ignacy Paderewski.
